We are delighted to now have a new play area as well as some sand and sea ( hopefully sun too).
The area has been made as accessible as possible with wheelchair access and a raised sand pit.
Thanks to everyone who has worked extremely hard to make this happen.
Over a year ago The Friends of Clark’s Little Ark successfully applied for a grant from Whiteside Hill Windfarm Community Fund. Due to covid 19 an extension was granted for the work and this year JMC Contracts & Supplies worked flat out building the new area.
Jimmy had the idea of an Ark/boat theme and I’m sure you will agree it is brilliant.
The boat and wigwam made by HMP Dumfries have also been incorporated into the new area. We even have our own special flag thanks to Nith Valley Embroidery.
The humans have also worked extremely long and hard to have things ready and all their help is greatly appreciated.
The grant also covered fencing around the play area and thanks to William Moore Fencing there is a secure fence and gate around the play area too.
We are hoping to add some new benches including one that is accessible to wheelchairs to the area above and beside the P-ARK so that on a nice day visitors can enjoy the lovely views.
At this time there is still some work to be done on the track leading up the back.
But thanks to the money received from Kelloholm Co-op Community Fund, a start has been made improving the surfaces.
Due to restrictions we are unable to have our visitors book so if you have time it would be great if you could please leave an online review after your visit.
