Meet our residents...
Due to recent government guidelines Clark’s Little Ark will be closed to visitors as from today ( 26th December 2020) until further notice.
Access was already limited, ground conditions up the back have deteriorated due to the weather and the animals are all inside when the weather is bad. With the new strain of covid 19 around it was decided that closing to visitors was the safest thing to do.
We will review the situation on 18th January but it may be closed longer. Because on the bright side, if it it safe to do so work may start on making the play area up the back more accessible. This had been planned for earlier this year but again due to the virus , the work could not be carried out.
We hope it is not too long before we can safely see everyone again. Take care 🤗
Our new book “Where is Everyone?” available now.
The story is about Billy the bullock during lockdown. Huge thanks to the Friends of Clark’s Little Ark for their help putting the book together and to Gillian Smith for her help getting it to the printers.
The story involves happy memories. Special thanks to Cara, her team, and the young people from The Upper Nithsdale Youth Committee for making a lovely DVD, which will go along with the book.
The book will cost £5 and the DVD is free.
We hope you enjoy it and all proceeds will go towards keeping the Ark free of charge for everyone.
Most people love animals. And that lead to the almost inadvertent arrival of a special project that has become so popular it can boast a prestigious community award.
Clark’s Little Ark began life as home for Alison and Ian Shankly’s miniature Shetland ponies and donkeys.
The small piece of land near the old brickworks in Sanquhar soon began to attract interest from local people who, increasingly, began to visit.
That was in 2012 and, a year later, a family tragedy turned the venture into a heart warming and inspirational story.
Clark’s Little Ark can be found at the Old Brickworks....
A short walk from the centre of Sanquhar. It is situated on the left-hand side of the road, just before the Civic Amenity Site, St Mary’s Street Sanquhar DG4 6BS.
Parking is very limited at the Ark and if specialist access is required please contact Alison Shankly on 07943389018 or 01659 50123, email firstname.lastname@example.org or send a pm on Facebook.
